I've finally uploaded my old "Little Red Riding Hood" commission and slightly newer Oz Card Game illustrations. You can see all of them in my Children's Gallery.

Some time ago I've also uploaded "Fallen Star" - the promised remake of the "Twilight of the Evenstar", right now it's featured so you won't have any trouble finding it

Also, I'm working on some The Witcher "fanart", actually our "module in progress" finale illustrations. One is already finished, so please comment, it's supposed to look pro, so don't get easy on me

This time Harry Potter stuff ^^

Last time I wrote in this journal I said I wanted to do some HP fanart. Too bad I didn't have the time, but I got some great commisions and I'm planning to add them to my DA gallery. The first one, already finished, is The Grimm Brothers' "Sleeping Beauty" (14 illustrations)



The other commisions are "Little Red Riding Hood" illustrations and some artwork for an (undisclosed yet) card game by Orion's Bell. I'm fortunate to sell my copyrights only partially, so stay tuned for prints

If someone is interested in giving me other commisions, I'll be available from somewhere around the New Year.

Also, I'd like to thank you for all the faves, comments and devwatchs I haven't been able to answer or thank personally. You're all great When I finish my current commisions I'll surely draw something dark, brooding, mysterious and refreshingly angsty, as not to die of sugar coma

I've browsed some journal and I found this:



It made me think a bit about what I was about to write previously and I decided to write it this time. I liked Deathly Hallows for all the flashback sequences, the characters' history, background and their motives. Still, there were many things I didn't like, especially in "the main story" of the book. Among those things were the circumstances of Severus Snape's death. I didn't mind the fact that he died, I mean, sure, it was sad, but that's the usual fate of an antihero - sacrifice. But usually sacrifices are done in the manner that makes the antihero important and it brings the best out the living rest.

Snape died a quick, suprising death, with no introduction and no description of his own mind state. That's not what I expected, but, well, the memories are making up for that. Still, Harry's reaction afterwards is something that let me majorly down. I never thought really high of Harry Potter, but I expected more of a boy who knew what it meant to be lonely, poor and made fun of. How come that this sensitive and good boy after seeing those memories thought only about his own butt and the fact that he was betrayed? So nothing else stroke any chord? After all, Snape was the only person who expressed a direct will to protect Harry even from Dumbledore's plan. Of course it wasn't for him directly, but still, Snape, due to his oath to protect Lily's heritage, thought more of Harry's life than all the people who expressed a direct good will.

And we got Harry coming out of the pensieve, and the brave Gryffindor champion cannot think of anything except his sorry ass being Voldie's last horcrux. And where is this "deeper, Lily-like nature"? It is supposed to be the final scene, some deeper, inner change. And what? Nothing. Instead of these memories Snape could leave a memo "I killed Dumbledore because he asked me. I had the hots for your mother so I kept your ass safe and followed Albus' orders. PS. Do not forget to get killed by Voldemort, it's important." Nothing would change. This is my grudge against Rowling. She didn't make me feel that Snape's death was really needed and inevitable. That it served a greater purpose than simply giving some information.

I guess the author thought that this "Albus Severus" would do the trick... Well, it's a nice touch, but definitely it didn't. If the author kills a character, especially a controversial, deep and complicated character, his death has to follow the same pattern. Rowling made Snape's death a cruel and messy one, with great potential to leave a really distinctive mark on other characters... and it got screwed up. Instead we got cheesy ghost-talking scene saying "everything will be okay". Come on, even Star Wars' "I'm your father" was deeper. That's not a good way to treat such characters :/

This time Harry Potter stuff ^^

All right. I've gave up to the the whole Potter hype, I won't even try to deny It would be quite pointless anyway. I've read the DH book in two days after the premiere and decided that some moments need a very good visualisation. My ramblings will be full of HARRY POTTER SPOILERS so beware if you don't want to get spoiled.

I've found Bumblescutt's sketch of DH Snape and I accepted an offer to colour it, since the lineart is very good and it would be pity for it to stay unfinished. The scene depicts the death of him and since Snape is my absolutely favourite character (especially after DH), I couldn't really help myself.



As for my comments for the very book..? Well, the Snape and Dumbledore parts are very good while the rest is quite average. Since the third book I've gotten much more interested in the previous generations of characters. The James-Lily-Severus relationship is what I didn't even dare to hope for before DH. It was a typical fanfic dream of a more complicated storyline in a quite simple story. And yet, we got it. Dumbledore shown as a cold blooded planner was also the touch of life on the otherwise too perfect character. Too bad the main characters, Harry&co, didn't get similar touches. They were quite plain as compared to their parents and teachers. Even older Death Eaters and Narcissa, even if so briefly described, proved to be more interesting than their children. After such tension in HBP I expected something more of Draco.

I'm practising sketches, poses and emotions right now, so it's quite probable I'll draw something more of Deathly Hallows. Severus&Lily perhaps? Yeah, I know, it's not exactly original and creative right now but still I cannot help myself not to cheer for this part of this storyline. My strong dislike towards James makes it so much easier >:] I wish we got some kind of a prequel, to see how it all began and why exactly Snape joined Riddle and what did it mean that he was "fascinated with the Dark Arts". I bet it wasn't as simple as it was with the Malfoys, Blacks and other "pure blood fanatics". Snape was more complicated than that. Maybe someone is willing to write a retcon fanfic? ^^

This brings me to the point of wondering whether this beautiful vision of the Marauders pack of friends and this great love of Lily&James really looked this way it appeared. After all, we know that James was a spoiled, rich kid and hardly a brainer. Would this marriage be indeed happy? Or maybe it was just a nice "golden couple" matching the bold and the beautiful? It would make a good story for some fanfic writer >:]

Finally DA staff introduced something actually useful! ^^ These CSS journals are absolutely wonderful and a lot of fun too. Please comment on the new layout, especially on any visual bugs you might find.

Additionally, some time ago I've made a new manip for Isabeausong's Children's Stories Contest and now it's also available as a print.



Current projects: A heavy remake of Twilight of the Evenstar and yet untitled autumn painting. I'm experimenting with heavier airbrush usage. Also, my professional website is on its way, so you can see I'm bit overwhelmed with work. Stay tuned for updates!
